Welcome
to Our Site
Welcome to our page. The 2d Battalion 8th Marines Reunion Association is a veterans-led, volunteer organization dedicated to honoring the service and camaraderie of Marine veterans through reunions, peer support, and community remembrance activities. Founded to strengthen bonds among Marines and their families, the Association organizes periodic gatherings, memorial events, and outreach to preserve the shared history and spirit of our units. Funding will directly support the organization’s efforts to host reunion events, maintain communications, and promote veteran connection.

Capt. James "Gus" Mingus
Trustee, September 2025
A retired Marine Mustang, Gus served as a Force Recon Marine, Sniper, and Drill Instructor before earning a meritorious commission. He commanded Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, during their deployment to Fallujah, Iraq. Upon returning to the United States in 2007, he retired as a Captain and spent the next 14 years working as a contractor and civil servant. His final position was running the Marine Corps Combat Hunter Program, where he taught tracking and body language interpretation.
In 2021, Gus officially retired and settled on his 50-acre farm, where he now raises beef cattle. He has been married to Sheri since 1992, and together they have two grown children and two granddaughters.

Bryan Buckley
Trustee, September 2025
Bryan Buckley is a former U.S. Marine Corps Captain and Marine Raider who has led teams in complex operations across Iraq and Afghanistan. His leadership focus has been on the mission, accountability, and taking care of people. In the years since, he has worked across the private and nonprofit sectors, founding the Battle Brothers Foundation to advocate for veteran health and co-founding Helmand Valley Growers Company to support research aimed at reducing PTSD symptoms. He is also an Honor Foundation Fellow and is currently pursuing a master’s in Homeland Security at Penn State University. As a Trustee of the 2d Battalion, 8th Marines Reunion Association, he is committed to strengthening our community by supporting outreach and maintaining the shared bonds that last well beyond service.

Daniel Clark
President, September 2025
Daniel Clark is the President of the 2d Battalion, 8th Marines Reunion Association, and he started this group to help our veterans connect in person and keep the bonds of our service strong. He's a former Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps and a retired Special Agent with the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General. His years in uniform and government service grounded him with integrity, accountability, and a clear duty to safeguard people and resources. He brings that same standard to this organization by planning meaningful reunions, building community, and stewarding every donation with transparency so funds are used where they matter most. He is honored to serve this brotherhood and to make it easier for Marines to reconnect and to look out for one another.
I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities. Let's connect.
